Depreciation History - AM00.2
unknown
We are considering turning on depreciation history (AM00.2) to help get better historical reporting for depreciation. This is something we have not done in the past.
1) Does anyone have AM00.2 "depreciation history" turned on?
2) Does it take up alot of space? There is a warning built into the help field.
3) If this is turned on how often, or do you, purge the history?
4) What kind of better reporting are you able to produce from this set up?
5) Do you consider turning depreciation history on to be beneficial or not worth the change.
6) Other than space are there any other negative consequences to turning on depreication history?

Yes, we do have it turned on. I'd be interested in knowing the file names to check for size. I never have checked on these so I don't know how big they are. We have not had problems with the set up. Mostly turned it on "just in case." We don't use any reports . . . what reports could we use?

We have this turned on as well. I think it keeps the history in the AMBKHIST table. We've had this turned on since 2007 and haven't purged anything. So far, we haven't had any issues with table size. We mostly query this information for reporting purposes.

I think AM281 is the standard report for depreciation history. It also looks like I can rebuild depreciation history with AM320. Has anyone done this before. Doesn't see difficult.

KB 1194105 gives more information on the process.
