BN15 need to change eligibility group

Effective 1/1/2015, the elgibility group criteria for two of our current health plans will change. We want to use the same plan code (IE: BA11) with a new effective date of 1/1/15 and change the employee group on the Eligibility tab. However, we are getting the message "Plan start date cannot be > then prem. start date". Any ideas what I should look at? We want to avoid creating two new health plans.

you are getting that error because you are using a later start date on BN15 while the contribution records are dated before that date.
When we change eligibility criteria for existing plans we don't touch the start date. We wait until after the last pay run with the old criteria and then change the employee group criteria and create a new contribution record with the new start date and run the update program. I cant recollect if it automatically closes plans for those that are not eligible or if we manually ended their benefits. I hope someone else has a better answer
