Anyone have sample test plans for the Lawson 9 to Infor 10 upgrade?

We asked every department to identify those processes which were integral to their daily, weekly, monthly and yearly operations. We used that as requirements to be completed by each department. In addition, we had all departments test all setup, inquire and report functions. Essentially, the user communities were responsible for thoroughly testing the software. We were the overall project management.

Generally, this upgrade testing process would last 6 months.

Periodically, as in monthends, we would run production reports, then convert the data in the new upgrade and run the same reports. The users would verify all look correct. This was one key marking after LIVE conversion.

Thanks for you response regarding reports. I was curious what others do. We have been running pre and post reports for previous upgrades. Most HR reports do not have totals so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I also wandered if someone had a better method.

Something we have started doing is getting data dumps from some of the core tables and then using a text editor or source code editor to do a file compare (pre upgrade versus post upgrade). Doesn't always work, especially if there are new fields, etc. But we can compare a massive amount of data in a relatively short time. I have been using TextPad but I think you can use UltraEdit or maybe even Notepad++.
