Form does not allow direct transfer

I swear I used to know a way to tell how to get to a sub form, or any form that does not allow direct transfer...? Isnt there a way we can dump GEN or something to tell how to get to a form that is not accessible by a routine form transfer?? Racking my brain...

I created a ticket with Lawson regarding that just the other day. They attached a bunch of the technical guide pdf's that listed programs and the ones that they were available from. They did not provide me with any method to determine that from the GEN table or anything. I see in several programs that is all hardcoded.

In Unix you can try this:
cd LAWDIR/
find . -name '*PD' -exec grep -l -i {} ;

So if you are looking for MA43.1

find . -name '*PD' -exec grep -l -i M431 {} ; --You don't need the -i if you use upper case

It should return the programs that call MA431. In the cobol code you'll see MOVE "MA431" TO CRT-SCREEN-CODE

Hope that helps --This should at least return apsrc/AP20PD You may get a few other false positives, but it should narrow the list down

This may answer your question. This is for standard Windows/UNIX COBOL '4GL' programs:

In "pgmdef" - Highlight a form name, hit F6 - Define - then "B" - "Source". Then select "C." - Form.

The Form definition defines all of the forms that a program can display. Each form starts out with the word, "$FORM" and its name. For instance,
$FORM AP101 S
means, This defines screen 'AP10.1'.

There are a number of entries after that, before the actual screen layout. According to the ADW Standards manual, the entry to look for is $NOTKXFER: "Does not allow transfer to this form from other windows or forms using form ID or menu transfer."

More detailed info:
"Inclusion of this command means that you cannot transfer to this form from other windows or forms using form ID or menu transfer. This command does not have any parameters.

"If you include this command, you can transfer to this form using a program transfer (as opposed to a user transfer). This command is useful for forms because the program, rather than the user, fills in hidden fields."

To change this, you will have to change the $NOTKXFER entry (remove it), then recompile the program. Because that would make it a customization, it's better to copy it to a new program name, then make the change & recompile the new program.

Thanks Milo. Yeah this is helpful, but I still cannot determine how to get to AP53.1 (AP10? AP20?)

This might get you there a little quicker the next time
cd LAWDIR/

Instead of just looking in PD files look in scr files

find . -name '*PD' -exec grep -l -i {} ;

Instead of only looking in PD files look in .scr files
find . -name '*scr' -exec grep -l -i AP53 {} ;

You could do it all in one pass:

find . -name '*PD' -o -name '*.scr' -exec grep -il ap53 {} ;
