Certification/Licensure History in PA22

For those of you using PA22 to track licenses and certifications AND using MSS to collect updates, I'd like to know how you handle a license or cert when it is no longer applicable to the employee or job.

Example: When a RN moves to a Case Manager Role and the new Case Manager role does not require an RN license.

Also, we are trying to preserve history of the license by leaving it in the table, but it still shows on ESS & MSS even though we've done some back-end programming so that our Smartnotes do not pick it up and send a renewal/expired notice.

Any input would be appreciated. We are on S3 Apps 9.0.1.

Are you using PA08 to compare what is required for the position and what is on file for the employee? We leave historical license/cert info in PA22 so that if the employee changes to another role that requires that cert, they are good to go. This allows us to make certain our notifications are only looking at what is required for the position (the flow looks at PA08 first, then compares to what is missing or overdue on PA22).

We do not use PA08 at this time but are working to build that. I tested this scenario on a few test records and though I think it would work to resolve our Notifications issue, I did not resolve our E/MSS issue. Do you use ESS and MSS to display and/or update certifications?

We do not use ESS and MSS for this process. We considered it, but we are required for Joint Commission standards to have primary source verification, so we have to look them up anyway. We also decided it wasn't worth trying to get managers to enter these. We struggle mightily to get them to actually put terms and position changes in timely and, for us, those are much more important for them to focus on.
