BN255 - Total Counts

It is my understanding that we have to run the BN255 to get monthly totals counts and then enter them on the BN27. Are we missing something here or why does the system not already know the Total Count & Total FT's that should appear on the BN299 report? Why must these be calculated in the BN255 and then manually entered on the BN27.1? Also, where do we come up with the Total FT counts?

The counts need to be entered in BN27.1, because the BN255 is only looking at employee records and some organizations are using HR11 to store interns, volunteers, etc. Also, if you were to have ACA Resource that were employees, then BN255 would not include those individuals in the counts.

The BN255 calculates the Full-time employee count by month (aka Full-Time lines on the report) and Total Employee count (Grand totals that sums Initial Measurement + Part-time + Full-time counts) by month. Note: These values may need to be adjusted for ACA Resources that are actual employees.

So Amy, would your count be more accurate if you used the report from the 1095 forms?

Hi Amy, we are preparing to send a correction file. One error on the original submission was "AIRBR831 Total Employee Count for ALE Member (All 12 Months) and monthly counts have no value when authoritative transmittal indicator is checked" BN27.1 has Authoritative Transmittal = X, Total Counts for each month, and a 1 in 12M MEC. All other R5 and R6 values are blank on BN27.1. Could you please provide any insight on why we received this error? Thank you

IRS is looking for counts entered in R5 & R6 for the Count fields (# of Full-time employees) and Total Count fields (# of Full-Time and Part-Time employees) for the report entity you are submitting.
