IRS 1094C Filing

Is there anyone else like me who has successfully transmitted files that were rejected and now need to manually edit the manifest file to indicate that we are sending replacement files? I am just wondering if I am the only one that is frustrated at the incompleteness of lawson's solution.

I'll tell you how impressed we are with Infor's approach to this topic, we went to the effort of registering as a software developer and developed our own method of creating the XML files out of what is essentially bailing wire and bubblegum due to the lack of preparation Infor has shown here.

I'm hoping by this time next year they've gotten their heads together, but the fact that they've essentially took till the 11th hour to deliver something that is only 80% complete when the majority of what they needed to implement was known a full year ago is disappointing and points to the implication that instead of taking this as a serious item they instead assumed that they could play chicken with the government and were expecting politics to negate the issue rather than actually needing to have something in place.

And yes, I'm aware that things weren't fully decided till much later, but for the past six plus months I've been reading the specs and the vast, vast, majority of the changes to the specs have been tweaks and 'bug fixes' to handle edge case scenarios. Not once have I noticed a full blown case of a major change to the spec.

Is anyone aware of any Infor documentation on how to prepare and submit replacement files?

I would be interested in knowing how to do that as well. We have that issues now as well.

I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but when I was speaking to the IRS moving our status from test to production, I asked him about errors after submitting the production files, and he told me that Publication 5165 (around page 43 he thought) is helpful regarding errors and resubmissions. He also said to type Error in the IRS search bar (not sure if on the ACA pages or in general), and that if all else fails to call the same IRS number we used for the XML submission. He did note too that we only resubmit the records that were in error - not the entire file. I haven't worked through any of the steps he laid out, but I wrote them down.

Jenn, that is only true if your file is accepted with errors. If it is rejected you resubmit the entire file as a replacement.

I can't tell you if Infor has a built in process for making those edits, but I believe the last time I saw anyone ask the answer was "we are working on it and it'll be released as a CTP".

The IRS has another presentation from May, 2016 that seems to contradict the Dec presentation.

The Dec presentation states:

"...a Replacement Transmission must contain all of the records you want IRS to process that were included in the Rejected Transmission that it is replacing"

The May presentation sates:

"When replacing a Transmission or Submission, replace all records in the Transmission or Submission that were Rejected."

I have not seen any mention of an Infor screen that would allow us to build a submission with just selected records. I'm going to open an incident with Infor to ask them how to do this.
