ACA XML File Creation

The 1094 Report generated from job BN299 has populated "2" for line 21 ALE Group Member. What does the "2" represent? We are not part of an ALE group. We are just one company. Where is this number coming from and what does it mean? KB 1694174 says that line 21 is system generated if Report Entity is part of an ALE Group. The choices are "yes" or "no" on the 1094-C form. Does anyone know what the "2" represents? Does it translate to a "no" on the form?

I'm not sure what the 2 translates to, but in KB1694174, the fields are mapped and line 21 states it's system generated from your BN00.8 set-up, so perhaps check that..hope that helps some

2 represents NO being checked on all the fields that have a yes/no value.

0 = Neither are checked

1 = Yes

2 = No

3 = Both yes and no are checked

Per the spec however, if the value is zero somehow, the field should be omitted instead of set. And 3 is only a valid option on a paper form (don't ask me how), and thus should never be used.

I would highly suggest that you leave the actual data XML alone. Editing it will cause the checksum value embedded in the manifest XML to become invalid and will cause your transmission to fail unless you manually recalculate the checksum and update the manifest file.

If you are doing it yourself you'll need to download software. I use an old portable app called "Checksum Control", but anything that generates a MD5 checksum should work.

The software should accept your datafile as an argument, and will either spit out the checksum or create an checksum file that you'd open in notepad to copy out the checksum.

IRS specs require a 'dashless' checksum, so if the software generates one with dashes for separators, remove them.

In the transmit instructions is says to go to Step 4 "AIR UI Channel Login - AATS (Testing)". Is that correct, or should I go to "Production" to send the final XML?

Production if you completed communications testing and the IRS has changed your TCC to prod.
