Has anyone seen this error and know how to resolve?
I just got off the phone with the IRS after a 2 hour wait, and here's some information I got.
- AIRMF3006/3014. I submitted 9 files, and she had 11 receipt ids for me, so 2 files duplicated probably due to time-outs that happened while I was uploading them. She gave me the 2 receipt IDs that I needed to replace my 2 AIRMF3006/3014 error files. She also gave me their statuses (1 accepted, 1 accepted with errors), so I can now go grab the ack file for my accepted with error file.
-AIRTN500 TIN Validation Failed. All but one of my files was accepted with errors, and all of the errors are AIRTN500. She said to check each record for data entry errors, use of full legal name, and any other kinds of clerical errors I might find, and then to submit correction files within 60 days.
IF we cannot find anything to correct (i.e. we are using the full name/SSN provided to us by the employee, or we have no recourse because they don't work for us anymore), then document, document, document our due diligence in case we are questioned in the future. As long as we have tried, and can prove we've tried to fix the errors, we should be good.
The takeaway for me is that we have 60 days to send corrections for those errors we can fix, but we don't have to get every file perfect. Have your receipt pages printed and ready when you call because they will need the date and time of submission, which is on those receipts.
