Accepted IRS file

We continue to receive rejections with codes AIREX126 and AIRTN500. Has anyone successfully transmitted their file and would have a few minutes to review their success? We are still trying to submit a test file and do not know how to get past these errors. We registered for the AIR program and received TCC numbers. Are we missing anything?

We have gotten our errors back and they all point to the INDIVIDUAL-TIN but don't see anything wrong with the numbers. The error message said INDIVIDUAL-TIN validation failed. Not sure what its being validated against, and not sure how to resolve. The numbers look valid to me.

There is an IRS provided service that HR/Payroll uses to validate Names/TIN's. Have you used that service and verified that the name (e.g. Mary Smith) matches the TIN (e.g. 123-45-6789)? Often the person's name has changed with the IRS (marriage, divorce, etc.) but may not yet be updated in your HR system and will get this error.

The employee's SSN isn't matching what the IRS has for those individuals. Another work-around would be to blank out their SSN and use a birthdate for XML generation.

Where do you go to figure out which SSN/TIN failed? We only have the report saying TIN Validation Failed.

The error report will give you a unique record number that identifies the record. Sometimes you have to wait a bit before the error report will be available for download.

I had to wait about 4 hours between the time I got a status with the AIRTN500 error and actually being able to download the error file with the offending records. Earlier I just got a Null file back.

Once we got our file accepted with errors, our errors were that same AIRTN500 TIN Validation failed error on 137 records, I downloaded the xml error report that showed which unique record ID was generating the error, I then worked with IT and they used a xml tool and wrote a sql statement and compared the 2 files to yield a file for me that shows me what actual employee and social security number matched that unique record id and that has been a big help. Next, I need to work on validating the SSN, or blank it out and let DOB default and then when Lawson comes out with a correction file patch for BN299, rerun for those errors and submit
