Comments on Forms

In Landmark Talent Management (we're on ver10.2) I see forms that have a comment areas.

An example is the EmployeeCredentials businessclass form.

When I look at the EmployeeCredentials Table in SQL Server, no "Comments" column or anything like it.

I haven't found a Generic "Comments" table.  

I see the field available to customize the business class list and it works, but I need to know where to find it physically, if possible.

I opened the form in Configuration Manager and all it says is -- "Comments" for the field.

Three key (ctrl-alt-right-click) on the field just says EmployeeCredential businessclass.

 

Any ideas?

Hi Chuck,



The Comments data is stored in a "Large Object" field (LOB). Other LOB fields are things like the AuditLog data. Landmark provides an option for LOB (large object) fields to be separated from "regular" fields in the database, which greatly improves some maintenance tasks like DBReorgs. This is commonly called a "Split-LOB" DB setup. I'm guessing your system is set up that way.



Because of this, each business class is split into multiple database tables. For example, the Employee business class combines the EMPLOYEE table and the S$EMPL table. The S$EMPL table holds the LOB fields.



In the case of EmployeeCredential, the related LOB table is S$EECRD. You would have to join EmployeeCredential with S$EECRD on UNIQUEID to link them together.



NOTE: You can generally find the table prefix (EECRD or EMPL) by looking at the database indexes for the primary table. For example, the primary index for EmployeeCredential is named "EECRDBYUNIQUEID", so from that you get "EECRD".



NOTE2: There are also S_xxxx and SXxxxx tables that work the same way. S_xxxx tables are effective dated versions of the base table, and SXxxxx tables are translation tables.
