Medical premium based on salary

HI .. has anyone setup a Health plan with a rate table that is based on a salary range? IF so can you explain how you did it?

Ie... if the person's salary is between 0 - 30000 they pay 15% of the premium

30001 - 60000 - pays 20% of premium

etc..

Have you tried creating employee groups based on your salary ranges? Then you would create a rate table for each employee groups.

We have 3 possible surcharges, and also charge different rates for part time and full time. I had to create employee groups for each of the possible combinations, and then attach a rate structure to each. It does work, and our automation rules changes premiums when an Associates moves from one employee group to another.

We looked at setting up groups but I don't see a topic that includes salary.. I see Benefit Salary but we don't fill that out. What topic are you using in HR55.1?

We have benefit premiums set up by salary range. It is a flat rate based on each salary range. Not % of premium. We used the Salary Rate table set up for this. It works very well.

we have also set up flat premium amounts (not %) using the salary rate tables. You could just determine the flat rates based on the percentages you mentioned?

Some things you may want to consider:

* Do you want premiums to change based on salary changes or do you want to use a 'frozen' salary for the plan year? (we have done both - on BN15 Contribution Type =2, under Contributions tab/Criteria, you can select either a Current date or As Of date)

* Do you want to use the annual salary pro-rated based on FTE or the annualized pay based on 2080 hours per year (so everyone making the same hourly rate pays the same premium) We use the Ben Sal fields on HR11 to hold the annualized salary and point to that field on BN15.
