EMSS V10 Portal Bookmarks Home Page

Are there any creative ways to display the bookmarks similarly as in v9 (A menu list on the side)? Our employees struggle with having to hover over the delivered "Bookmarks" and navigate to the end bookmark order land on the page they are looking for.

We would like to know as well. At least, have that feature returned. V10 Portal does have its strengthens. However, Infor lost sight that ESS is used by infrequent computer people as well. The expanded bookmarks empowered those users. V10 took that empowerment away. Forcing more calls to both IT and HR.

I was frustrated with this issue as well. I found a small work around. By accident, I noticed that when you click the "New Tab" button in v10 portal it shows your bookmarks on the home screen but only when you open a new tab. So I made that new tab view the default homepage.

If you go into your portal role for ESS users -->on the "General Tab" --> copy the "New Tab" url (newTab.htm) into the "Home" page --> Click Apply. Now bookmarks will default to the homepage. No need to click the bookmarks tab at the top of the screen first. We did this for portal role for our back office users as well.

I tried both your new tab suggestions and neither worked. Please provide specific urls and/or instructions.

Nice!! Do you know if there is a way to automatically expand the tree? Users will click on "Requisition Center" and be frustrated when a new window with a lovely "webpage cannot be found" error appears. If it is automatically expanded, they could click on "shopping" and be happy. Ok - maybe not happy, but at least not frustrated by "webpage cannot be found."

It requires a modification to the newtab.js script. You'll need to add the following:

$bookmarksTree.inforTree("open_all");

Just after the:

bookmarksBuilt = true;

(approximately line 120)

I'm also quite frustrated by the UI for the portal for the casual users just logging in to look at their paycheck or set-up benefits... Has anyone done any more work with creating a sidebar menu and render the selections in a frame in Vx? I'm working on getting something like this set-up but if I could build on anyone elses work it would help.

We actually just created our own links inside the homepage that helped the users navigate a little better.

I can once I am finished writing it. It has been a while since I revisted the changes we made, it involves editing the javascript in home.js on the webserver.
