Migration of PFI to LPA

Our Implementation partner has told us that there is no migration for the PF Logan table information (Services, Service Variables, Service Criteria, Service Process, Tasks, User Profiles, User Tasks, User Task Category, etc.) and that it is not safe to attempt any kind of automated migration or uploads. They say that the only safe way to get this data into the Rich Client is to type it all in manually. That is a lot of work and introduces risk for error or omission. Is this really true? If not true, how have you migrated the PFI data to LPA?

I disagree. You just need to find the right IPA consultant and they can automate the migration for you. We implemented from v9 to v10 in the cloud and it was possible.

Correct, we also went from PFI to IPA where our IPA consultant migrated everything automatically

Try the migrateflows command. Copy your XML files from 9x to 10x, edit the XML file for any differences in product lines etc, and then run the migrateflows command to convert it to IPA. For the most part it worked for me. There were a few tweaks needed on a good many flows, but it was better than rebuilding from scratch.

Clarifying - was talking about the Services, Users, and Tasks, not the flows. Yes, we have used the migrateflows for our 100+ flows.

Sorry. Yes the users, tasks, etc was a manual process. I guess if you know the PFI schema well enough you could script that process using sql queries.

I don't remember if we had to recreate when we did the upgrade, but we didn't have much for users and tasks at the time. However, if you need to recreate everything, you can use Lawson Spreadsheet Designer to upload the content to the new business classes.

If you can get a dump of the user data from S3 Lawson, either through sql or Addins, you can use Spreadsheet designer to load in the same information into Landmark for IPA. Here's a run down of the business classes that you will need to upload to: User names: PFIUSERPROFILE; Tasks:PFITASK; assign Users to tasks: PFIUSERTASK; Filter labels: PFIFILTERKEY; Assigning filters to Users: PFIUSERCATEGORY. Please note that there are some nuances to each of the files listed and it will take some minimal massaging of data to get a clean push.
