Collation differences between Lawson product lines and Min.gle

Hello,

Our product lines are built with Latin1_General_BIN as that is how we set up our SQL server during installation.

To install Min.gle onto the same database instance, our installer is requesting we change the system database "model" collation to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS

and to leave it that way. What happens if I need to create another product line down the road? Is this a common practice for sharing product lines with Min.gle?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi Doug,

It is common to have the collation for the instance or the model database different than your specific Lawson productline databases. We just leave ours set to the SQL server default and then set the collation for each specific database as part of creating the database. If you need to create another productline, have your DBA change the collation to Latin1_General_BIN on the new productline database once it's created.
