Pay Period start Monday

Is there anyone whose organization pay period start on a Monday? If so, why did you switch to Monday Vs Sunday. We are looking at pros and cons.

Our pay period has always started on Monday. The pay periods are two weeks which gives us 26 pays in a year. Our benefits are based on fiscal year (July 1st through June 30th). Not sure why we picked Monday.

We have 3 different pay periods, but the most used one is Monday to Sunday. We run weekly payroll and our longest tenured payroll person said that it was like that 25 years ago when she started and it hasn't changed. We would really prefer that all our PLs and groups used the same pay period - that's more important to us than the pay period start day.

If you have a labor force with heavy weekend usage you may not want to start on Sunday. Starting on a Sunday would be in the middle of a "shift". Monday or even Tuesday may be a better option. As examples, think hospital, or convenience store, radio/TV station.

This is exactly why Mayo Clinic has a Wednesday pay period start for most of our employees (and a small group with a Monday start) We have a biweekly payroll.
