Assuming that you mean anybody -- rather than anything ;-) Do you mean for an ESP/MSP upgrade, a CTP, any non-Lawson Core products. Can you be a little more specific.

we time data cuts for right before a payroll run in the old system and then the first thing we do is a parallel payroll. After that, we test all other HCM functionality running through employee changes, BN1XX programs, LP100, etc. We include all areas of the HCM suite that we use. This is just S3. We do not have GHR.

Like Margie, we take a copy of Production, just before the payroll run, to do a parallel test of all the payroll functionality. We then test all the normal screen processes for all systems and then do one more extract from Production to do a parallel test of month end for Financials.

We also did the data copy from production before payroll run. The upgrade we did required a move from Oracle to SQL database so we did two testing passes before the Go Live. We tested all major processes from Payroll to all other systems and ran major reports to do a data comparison.
