Work-flow enabled Personnel Actions - inbasket display error

We have a number of work-flow enabled personnel actions that assign tasks to managers and back-office users.  For readability, HR created Action codes that include spaces in the name (e.g. PAY CHG rather than PAYCHG).  These worked fine on 9.0.1 in Process Flow.  We are now testing 10.x and LPA - and actions with spaces in the name display with a plus sign in the action name where the space is (e.g. PAY+CHG) and the action data won't display in the inbasket due to the error "Personnel Action code is invalid".  Oddly, if the user is back-office and can use the Previous and Next buttons - clicking on Next then Previous to return to the action causes the plus sign to go away (e.g. PAY CHG) and the data displays without error.

Does anyone know what is causing the "+" sign and how to resolve this (short of changing all our Action codes and Services, which would be disruptive to our customers and forever affect action history extracts and reporting).

There are too many places this could fail depending on exactly what type of display you are using and what action is being performed when you get the error message. More detail would be required like type of display being used and where you see the error.



The basic issue you have is that your Action Code is being URL Encoded by something that encodes spaces as + signs. Then whatever is taking that value is not able to decode it and remove the spaces. Assuming your display uses javascript somewhere that can intercept the variable before its being used ...



Creating a javascript function like the one below and passing your action code through it should work.
