ACA Initial Setup

Has anyone successfully installed the Lawson components required for sending their ACA required information to both Employees and the IRS via the AIR system? If yes, were you also successful with the file sent to the AIR system? Do you have any advice for a company that is just beginning that path and currently has this work contracted out to a vendor?

Our company was successful. I'm not familiar with the HR setup and processing, but I know that we were successful in submitting electronic files via AIR. We used MHC for printing the 1095 documents. My suggestion is to sign up for the IRS Quick Alerts and attend the monthly webinar. We were alerted to several issues to watch for from their webcasts, as well as from the (this) Infor Communities. Last year we implemented ACA and sent through AIR. We have 3rd party benefits but we reported through Infor, so we had our own set of challenges. Our 2 biggest lessons learned: Request 2 Contacts for the IRS as early as possible. We thought you only needed one. Turns out you need two, and it takes about 3 weeks for the registration process, since they have to USPS mail a confirmation. And make sure to take steps to remember the user name and password as you won't be using them for 3 weeks, and if you need a password reminder, they send that through USPS as well. Second, Infor has a really good KB on submitting your TEST through the IRS Test site. I'm only speaking of scenario 7, as that's the scenario we used. You have to have to follow the KB to the "T." Meaning; Employer and Employee names, SSNs and other information have to be what is displayed in the KB, they are not simply examples of what to send.

We used Lawson for everything (benefits and ACA), and while nerve wracking, it went smoothly thanks to the IRS extension. If you haven't already, subscribe to and read EVERYTHING in KB 1650062. It is disjointed right now as separate articles, but that KB and this group saved me on many occasions. I suggest you start here and search for whatever you need (i.e. you have a question about BN149, start here).

Amy from Infor regularly reads these threads and is a fabulous resource for specific questions.
