Crystal Reporting for Benefit Extracts

Does anyone use Crystal Reporting to extract Benefit changes/information to submit to Health and Dental vendors instead of using an 834 file?

Not sure that you'd want to use Crystal Reports. Crystal Reports is more for printed output. I think that'd make it overly complicated to get the data into the format your vendor was looking for. But we've never used 834 files. We always use straight SQL queries to pull the data and .NET to format the data to each vendor's specification.

We are looking for an SQL query that would pull the information for an on-going enrollment file to our insurance carriers.

You just have to look at what fields your provider requires, figure out what tables the data is stored in in Lawson and write the SQL statements to pull them.

Sorry, I'm new to Lawson and Crystal. Our vendor has requested a Change Only file so looking for guidance on how to write the SQL so it only pulls records that have changes since the last file.

We send full files as well to our vendors not changes. I have vendor (Blue Cross) that wanted the benefit termination put in the 834 file but the rest were ok with just getting active employees and dependents.

Crystal is good for transnational reports, lists, spreadsheet views etc. You can however, create .csv files with Crystal, scheduled them via LBI to run if your vendor can accept that format. I know it's possible to format the output to various formats and layouts but I haven't done much in Crystal for interfaces. Most our interfaces are written in 4GL, or SQL and SSIS.
