I am trying to figure out why we have been having PIDs killed sporadically. One-two weeks ago, a job was stuck in the early hours because the PID was killed. We could not kill the job and had to take down the system. Yesterday, a PID was killed, so the connection to the database was gone. The system could not query GEN, LOGAN, or the application DB. We suspect that VMware updates which were loaded on the DB server about 10 minutes before the connection broke was the root cause. What types of things would kill processes?
