Standard Address Verification

We use Landmark (LTM) as our source of records for Lawson S3. An applicant inserts whatever address they want in their application and that gets exported to S3 when hired.

We have a job in S3 that exports data for upload to a Benefit Plan which includes Address among other things.

This Plan requires the address to be in Postal Service Standard Address format to accept the data as is.

Otherwise we have to manually over-ride in the verification stage.

We would like to "fix" our data in LTM and/or S3 to conform to Postal Service Standard.
Does anyone else do this in either S3 or LTM?

How are you doing it?

I envision us running some report that would give us a list of non-compliant Addresses. Then we could manually change them.

Anyone have an idea on how this could be done?

We had the same dilemma but related to BSI on S3.

We added a link on the Employee Address business class via Config Console on LTM.

When the Recruiter hires staff or if employee changes address (HR Admin approves them), they click the link to compare/check against the US Postal office. It passes the data from LTM (fields specified in the url string) to appropriate fields on Postal site and returns what Postal office standards are for that address. If different from what is in LTM, they simply copy/paste and update according to postal office

Was best thing we could come up with.

First step will be to send a listing of all of your employees to a mailing list management company and ask them to standardize the addresses. I use Melissa Data for this (http://melissadata.com) I think it only costs around $70 to process all our employee records.

(I actually do this every December for all active employees plus any employees terminated during the year, and also ask Melissa Data to run all the records through the National Change of Address database. This helped our Payroll department cut WAY down W2s returned undeliverable.)

I also created a .NET routine that sends all new-hire employees' addresses and any addresses changed (e.g. from ESS) since the last time the routine was run through the U.S. Postal Service's address verification page (tools.usps.com/.../ZipLookupAction_input). My routine automatically enters a personnel action to update their address to the USPS standardized version, or it emails me if the USPS says it's an invalid address.

If you have IPA, you can go to the Infor Support Site, access the downloads, Click on Technology -> Technology Sample Content. In here there is a Download called: ProcessFlow. In this download is a Sample Address Verification Flow that calls out to a WebService. You can use this as a starting point. You can then call this flow when Address data is changed or on Employee adds.
