Standard Time Records for Exempt Employees

We have a few EXEMPT employees in 2 jobs/positions; for these employees we have the Auto Time Record flag set to NO on HR11. In order for these employees to be paid, we are having timekeepers enter hours worked in Kronos. We do it this way because if the Auto Time Record flag was set to YES the PR134 would only create a time record based on the first position/job.

We would like to move away from timekeeper having to enter time in Kronos. I'm hoping there is someone with this same scenario that has figured out a way to generate 2 automatic time records when PR134 is ran and is willing to share set up with me.

Wouldnt it be easier to set these two employees to unique jobs / positions, set their Auto Time Record flag to Yes and use PR134 to auto create the records?

We have done this by paying the 2nd position via PR30. You'd want to review the standard time record group criteria to see how those work to be sure you don't overpay the employee in his/her primary position. We created a user field called Scheduled Hours which is used in the time group criteria. For employees with 2 positions which are both exempt, the Scheduled Hours reflect the primary position hours only.

The down side of this is that the employee has to be added to other groups that use Scheduled Hours in the criteria since that field does not include all hours. Luckily, it's only 4-5 employees so it's manageable.

Hi Kevin, that is what I want to accomplish. The employees are in 2 unique positions but our employee groups are set up in a way that when PR134 (we use time record type 'T' - Employee Group)is ran it does not recognize that there are 2 postions.

Are you able to tell me what I need to do so that PR134 recognizes 2 positions and creates two unique time records?

Thank you for your response Carla. I will definitely add this to the list of possible solutions. Fortunately, we too only have a handful of exempt staff in 2 positions.

Don't know if using the Payroll Distribution - Employees (PR23.1) with the standard time records flag to yes would work for you.

We currently have employees that are paid in two different budget codes that have auto time records. We set them up in PR23 to split the wages & benefits according to each budget code ie: 50% to one & 50% to another. We do not have any issues with handling it that way.

Thank you for your response Sally and Connie. I will do some testing using PR23.

I have looked at PR23 and I do not see that a Rate of Pay can be entered. The employees I'm working with have 2 positions at two different rates of pay...I do see option to enter a job code. If I enter the job code is Lawson smart enough to pick up correct rate of pay? I will test.

I may reach out to you with questions if I can't get the desired results. I hope that's okay.

I think it will depend on where the rate is on the employee if the rate in on their position vs job you may need to use the more tab on the bottom to make sure it is looking at the correct position for the rate. Good luck.

There is a Topic "PS - Additional Positions" that allows you to build a group on positions 2 and up. Have you added that topic to the group you use on PR134?

We currently do not use position in the employee groups used for PR134. I am going to give that a try. Thanks!
