Secure SSN in reports?

Hello security experts! I'm stumped with how to make something happen...

Using LS Security, I have given users access to run some reports as well as a few tables. I have removed the FICA-NBR from the EMPLOYEE and EMPDEPEND tables with the intent (hopes) that it would prevent the SSN from showing up on the report output, but when users run reports (HR170 and others that have SSN), they are still able to see SSN on the report output.

Does anyone know how to restrict SSN on the report output?

I hope that someone will have a brilliant idea for how to do this. My experience is that LS security only applies to the parameters for reports, and that it does not affect the output. It's been a couple of years since we ran into this, so perhaps there has been an improvement.

We had to secure the SSN at the table level and create individual roles; ie HRAdminRptsWithoutSSNROLE.

Some Roles although require access to the SSN and for those we had to create a custom program to replace the Lawson delivered that excluded the SSN on the report.

I thought that would work too, but it doesn't seem to - at least for me - it restricts SSN from drillarounds and queries, but SSN is still on the report output.

Lawson Security can be used to control the parameters on the form, but it cannot be used to filter data within a batch form. For example, if there is a parameter on the HR170 form called "Display SSN YES or NO," then Lawson Security can require a user to select NO. However, if the parameter does not exist, then Lawson Security cannot control whether SSN populates in the report or not. (Note that table security does not determine what data populates in a batch report.)

Well, I found one thing that works: HR09 and HR10. That seems to do the trick, but I'm not sure I really want to go down that path. Is there any downside to using HR09/HR10, other than having to manage another security model?
