Physical Inventory utilizing the IC175 report

Hello All,

Can anyone tell me why the IC175 Variance report would display a different location total dollars frozen than the IC234 period end valuation provides for a location total prior to just freezing inventory records for counting? I have always run and IC234 before inventory counts to find what the inventory number is when starting and an end inventory ic234 once inventory is completed after running the IC175 to compare the different totals for the actual corrected value. Our auditors asked the same question and I recently entered an Infor incident with the same question, however, I am not understanding some of the responses: 'IC234 is meant to be an end of month (period end) valuation and it picks up transactions posted by IC130. IC175 posts updates (changes) to inventory. While it could be possible for these to come close, they are not meant to match up perfectly. There could be errors on IC175 and IC234 could pick up items posted with IC130 but not included in the physical inventory, for whatever reason.'

I was also referred to a patch for IC175 that we do not have: The latest patch for IC175 is ctp114135 (kb article 1877441).

In doing more research I also realized that we ran IC175 using a Select ID that selects a particular Inventory Major Class but IC234 was run using a specific GL Category. When I reviewed the ITEMMAST and ITEMLOC tables with a query I found several items that would have been selected for one report but not the other so I am thinking this may have contributed to the difference.

I would be most interested in any other theories as to why the location total dollars for IC175 and IC234 do not match.

I have only ever had issues with IC175 vs IC234 once - it turned out the IC130 was not finished.

For Physical Inventory, we run IC130. Freeze and run IC175 in report mode and IC234 for Company, Location, Date Option U (Update Date) and Valuation Date T(Today) - no additional filters on the Inventory Class tab.

Once Physical Inventory is completed, we run IC175 in update mode. We then run IC130. We then run IC234 for Company, Location, Date Option U (Update Date) and Valuation Date T(Today) - no additional filters on the Inventory Class tab.

I have a note from some predecessor in the past that says to use IC233 if IC175 and IC234 do not match "because it doesn't need GL dates to run."

I'm guessing that IC234 can only "see" what's actually hit GL. IC233 is value based on current stock on hand and cost.
