Mid Pay Period Transfers

We currently use the first date of the pay period (bi weekly) as effective date of a transfer.  We are staring to open up discussions to allow mid pay period effective dates.  What challenges have people had in particular LP and PR?  I could see some issue with multiple time off banks and potentially OT issues...

With our set-up, it can become pretty manual.



Pay - We strongly encourage transfers at the beginning of the pay period or at least the beginning of the week but to meet the needs of the organization that is not always possible. Either scenario works ok for our hourly employees, because hours load from Kronos Timekeeping into Lawson with the week ending date (Sat). However, if the employee transfers in the middle of a week, the system will pay that week's hours at the new rate and we have to manually calculate an adjustment to pay the hours correctly for that week. Salaried employee receive just one time record for the full pay period so all mid-pay period transfers require a manual pro-rate of pay.



LP isn't much of an issue since most employee are in the same plan. If the transfer is in the middle of the pay period and it includes a change to the plan, we add an Accrual End date to stop the old plan's accrual for that pay period and let the system accrue under the new plan. If this shorts the employee (because the new plan's accrual is lower) we make up the difference manually. The balance is transferred from the old plan to the new so we don't have a balance in more than one PTO plan at the same time.
