IPA on AIX - mounting Windows shared drives

Is anyone running IPA on an AIX server?  If so, how do you go about the functionality that requires shares be mounted on the AIX server?  Our server support teams will not install Samba for security/access reasons.

We are on AIX, but we are heavy users of Samba. We control access to the shares through AIX groups, and we "sync" group membership from matching AD groups so our AIX admin doesn't have to manage group access.



If you don't have that option, then you will either have to use SFTP to "drop" files onto your AIX server, or use the IPA FTP node to "pull" files onto your server, or use the IPA FileAccess node to read the files from a remote server. I'm not sure either of those options are any better/worse than Samba, but they are a bigger pain-in-the-hiney.



In our case, we have a specific AIX directory (/var) that we use for inbound/outbound files, and we have subfolders with different Samba shares for different folders and/or different access - some shares are read-only, some are read-write. We have the shares setup to force files to lawson/lawson on those shares. We use VLTrader to handle the file transfer on/off our servers.



Unfortunately, I don't think this will help you much - but maybe it will.
