Email notification not working

Hello,

Is there a place that the 'from' email needs to be sent? How to we ensure that emails are set up correctly.

We have been working on this incident with INFOR for months and we still do not have resolution. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

In the past when we had issues with these emails not being sent, the issue was with the Exchange server and not Lawson. I would check with whoever manages your email server to make sure they aren't being blocked there. Do all of the email addresses that are being created actually exist? I have one email address setup for the from address that is pflow@communitymedical.org, but because rejected emails have to go somewhere they are routed to my email address.

Hi Tammy,

Just curious - is the system.mailServer variable populated correctly in the Configuration settings (Start>>Applications>>Process Server Adminstrator>>Configuration>>System Configuration)?

In our case (on-premise, with SMTP on the box) we have it set to "localhost", but if you are using a separate mail server, this needs to point to the correct servername. If you are in the cloud, there are probably also firewall rules that need to be configured to allow the traffic to reach your mail server.

Our server allows any "from" email address, but the rules may be different for your mail server. You'll need to work with whoever manages that system.

If you are on the Infor Cloud, then I would think that Cloud Services should be responsible for getting this working. Their smoketests should fail if email isn't configured correctly.

Sorry I can't provide better directly, but this is really outside of my expertise.

Hi Tammy,

A couple of other thoughts.

1. Do you know (or has it been tested) to see if email can be sent from the IPA server when NOT using IPA (e.g., using PowerShell in Windows or mailx in *nix)?

2. Sometimes anti-virus software will prevent outbound email traffic if it's not configured properly

Here are some of the ticketed responses:

INFOR: I ran a test IPA process from the lsapps data area on the test server. The amstestemail process was designed to send an email to myself (matt.koch@infor.com) as well as to Gary Davies (gary.davies@automated-workflow.com) which contains a hyphen within the addresses.

The smtp mail server logging appears to show successful email attempts to both email addresses. Both addresses appear to have received a successful "250" response in the smtp mail server log. I received an email. Can you confirm that Gary did or did not receive the email? Within the body of the email I had requested that Gary email me to confirm if one was received.

our response: Body: I touched base with our consultant today and he verified that he DID NOT receive an email.

I addressed this with our inhouse team and the question is now, what are the next steps to resolve this. They wanted me to asked IXS for further direction regarding this.

Are you in the Cloud? We are in the Cloud, and we have to have a specific email in the 'To'; otherwise, the emails do not send out because that is what is getting out of the firewall in the Cloud. Did you run it from the designer or did you upload it to be run? If I upload it, it will run. Another lesson we learned is that you do not put your email server when you are in the Cloud.

Did you setup the variables in the rich client for the SMTP? There are a couple of variables that need to be added.

For testing purposes, I created a simple PF (verifyEmailConnection) that Starts, BuildMsg, email, stop. Uploaded the flow into landmark and we can run it ad-hoc, when needed. I use this to verify connections whenever we have issues. Have you verified your configuration settings? ‘Test Connection’ of your Email TAB definition? If the ‘To’ recipient is a potential issue, can you replace the value with your own address and receive the email? We have had issues in the past when attempting to send one email to multiple recipients. We have defined a property variable= mailPR value= aaa@abc.org, bbb@abc.org, ccc@abc.org in the configuration and then used the mailPR variable in the ‘To’ field of the flows email node. Lots of places to look. When we have issues, I go back to the beginning and go step by step.

Good afternoon Tammy my name is Russel Cornelson from the Infor Process Automation Support team here at Infor.

When you are in the Infor Cloud there are a few different ways that email in the system can be configured; but essentially there is a relay pointing to the amazon email server. This gives a couple failure points so it's important to fully understand the symptoms before triaging a non-functioning email.

I found a few incidents that currently are in a resolved status; I couldn't find an open incident with our support. I would love to look at the incident and ensure we get this resolved for you. If possible could you reach out to me via email at, russel.cornelson@infor.com and let me know what ticket number is that you are working on.

We should be able to get this resolved for you.

P.S. From a process flow standpoint; the program simply connects to the SMTP server and drops the email file off then moves on. So the flow showing no email failure would be normal. This is the equivalent of dropping a letter in a real mailbox on the corner .. we don't wait for a mailman to come along and verify he picked it up out of there let alone delivered it. So this troubleshooting will take us to the email relay, etc.

Hello Russel,

We recently build a custom flow that is encountering a similar issue with the outgoing emails. We noticed the emails appear as "New" in the email queue list and manually triggering them through the email executor appears to do the trick. We would like to remove this manual step of the process. Do you have any insight as to what may be causing this?
