Portal Content patch - where is installation guide?

I was asked to apply a portal content patch (9.0.1.13.1235) but I could not find an installation guide anywhere, specifically for portal content. I found the Portal Installation Guide, and used that; it was fairly simple so maybe there is not a separate install guide. But my boss said that he thought that there were some files that needed to be copied over to the web server after you apply it, and there is absolutely nothing in the guide about that. Is there anyone here that knows if that is the case, and if so, where to find documentation on it?

Maybe you have custom files like gif to change the background color on your none PROD environment. Or maybe you need to login to websphere and redeploy an ear file? There is a Portal upgrade to 9.0.1.15. Download that and it should contain the complete portal install guide which include post install.

Side note: I thought infor made it mandatory to upgrade to 9.0.1.15? I did the upgrade to my former employer last year.

Did you run the install twice for both Installation packages? Once for the Lawson Portal Core Files, and then restart the installer and select the radio button for Lawson Portal Web Server Files? Perhaps that is what they are talking about.

I did not even check for ear files. Are those updated in Portal Content patches?!? The guide that I used made absolutely no mention of ear files.

Okay I just checked - there were NO ear files that were updated with this patch.

I ran the installer once, for the environment. There is no "radio button" for web server files.

What OS is this being installed on?

If you ran the install without the GUI interface on Windows or AIX, there is a -p flag for PORTALWEB and PORTAL:

java -jar FileName.jar -b DirectoryPath -p PackageName InstanceName

where

PORTAL (Portal application server component)

PORTALWEB (Portal web server component)

Windows. Ran the installer as directed in the install guide. It states to run java -jar xxx.jar. There is no mention of any flags at all in this documentation that I am using. So maybe I am using the wrong guide.

Yep. I was. I was using the Lawson Enterprise Applications Help for Portal UI Installation Guide. I just found a Lawson Portal Installation Guide. Is that the guide I should be using??? Even though this is a "content" patch?

I swear I hate Lawson more every day.

I used to feel the same way. Then I started administering another system - Oracle Hyperion Essbase. Nothing made sense. Very quickly I was thinking fondly of Lawson and how everything works the "Lawson way". So every time I get frustrated, I remember, it could be worse, it could be Essbase. [No disparagement meant to that fine product, it just does not work anything like I expect it to, based on all I learned on Lawson.]

LOL. Yeah we looked at/tried to use Essbase years ago, and it was pretty ugly. Gave it up thank goodness.

So are you guys saying that this other guide (Lawson Portal Installation Guide) is the right one to use? There is not a specific install guide for "portal content"?
