We utilize many casual employees to provide flexibility in staffing. Employees in a casual status do not receive credit for seniority/years of service. Since going live with Lawson 16 years ago, we have entered 12/31/9999 in the Seniority field to indicate the employee was not receiving years-of-service credit.
We're now working on the upgrade to 10 and it looks like the 12/31/9999 date is not going to work for us. In the upgrade process, the 12/31/9999 dates did not convert - the field is blank. As soon as a change is made to HR11, the employee's Hire Date defaults into the field.
Do other Lawson clients have statuses where the employee does not receive seniority credit? If so, how do you handle the Seniority field? We have a lot of Access reports which will need to be reworked on whatever plan we come up with. I'd appreciate hearing any ideas/suggestions you may have.
