FSA election

receiving error when trying to change election amount :

As of right now, her FSA election is $1040. She needs to increase it to $2240. Historically, we have also been able to end-date the initial line item (which works fine), then add a second line item for the new amount, but in her case, that won’t work, since it would put her above the IRS limit.

Any assistance you can provide would be a huge help. Thanks!

try changing the original election to the amount taken YTD. The new deduction will then need to be set with the new amount minus the YTD amount.

We did try that to no avail. Receiving same error message

Did you make the change on the original one and save that change first before trying to add the new election amount? We do this quite a bit and it does work but it can be finicky if not done in the right order with saves at the right time.

For example:

1st election: Change to 6 pay periods with the total annual of $260. Save the change.

2nd election: Add a new election for 18 pay periods with a total annual of $1980.

That should get you to the $2240 annually. Of course, I'm making assumptions about the number of pay periods but that should give you the general idea.
