Manual IPA trigger options

Does anyone have a good solution for allowing users to manually trigger an IPA flow?

I have been looking into options for this, here are a few I cam up with.

Install Rich Client and give them access to trigger a flow from Process Triggers. (not sure about security here, it may allow too much access)
Use Design Studio to create a custom form from WFWK to trigger a service that starts a flow. (Not fully sure how this works yet)
Portal bookmark with a direct link to trigger the flow (not easy for user to pass in parameters)

I feel like this should be easier to do and I'm completely missing something. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I created trigger pages using Design Studio forms. Grouped multiple triggers on pages for the various areas, benefits, hr, payroll, AP, etc. and secure them through bookmarks.

What sort of triggers do you want users to initiate which are not based on database changes?

If you have Smart Office and Mashups, you can also do it from there. You can also include text boxes for manually entered variables and all that.

I have done it through design studio form where user clicks on a process name to trigger the flow. You can add the code so that flow only triggers once regardless of how many times user clicks on the flow name.

We have a couple of Design Studios IPA buttons. One in on PO13.3 - if I change a part number, I may or may not want the manufacturer info to change. I may or may not want that change to be changed on IC11 and IC12s.

So instead of a process flow for every change - we have a button. We make the changes and *IF* we want to change IC11 and IC12s, we push the button and it launches an IC330 job.

An idea -

Make the user generate any "specific named file" and then have your flow "see/find" that file to kick off your flow. There is two ways to sweep for this "file"; (1) use Rich Client's File Channel setup or (2) in your flow use FileAccessNode and set up a repeating schedule to periodically check for the file. File Channel is better with potential file contention although we discovered it is a burden on the Landmark's CPU. If you use the FileAccessNode way your flow will have to clean up the file with a SysCommand node. In either case, file contention and timings have to be considered.

For example, multiple users add CSV files to a directory that contains payroll deductions. Then when payroll has validated and is ready, they can start a flow that formats/imports those files.

You can easily do this with Design Studio and can even pass the names of the files to the flow if you need this information.

With some tweeking, the above link did work. Thank you. One issue was it displayed the submission in an XML format. I was hoping to avoid such a technical display for functional users. Is there a parameter or variable which can be passed to hide XML or reformat to say HTML, for more readability?
