Print file security

Version 10 of LSF - We are currently waiting for the fix for the issue of creating conditional rules on the USERRPT object in GEN. Currently, our different groups (Finance, HR...) can see each other's Print Files. Has anyone figured out a way to be able to limit each group to seeing only their own print files without using the conditional rules on USERRPT? Any assistance/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You can try using Operating System (Windows or Unix) security permissions. Use group access and assign users to OS groups, to make administration easier. That may work. In my world, I have to ensure that new Lawson users have access to the print folder when I set them up, or they won't be able to see their own reports.

I created a rule on the UserName element and built a User Group Structure where I define the groups and members. This allows for hierarchies of teams within departments. My sample GEN profile rule for the UserName element is:

(UserName)==user.getUserName())

||(user.isMemberOf('AllUserAccess'))

||((user.isMemberOf('FinanceUserAccess'))&&(isStructNodeTitleAbove('UserGroupStructure',getRMIdForEnvOSId(UserName),'FINANCE')))......

OS level permissions as you described would create additional difficulties depending on how your WebSphere instance is installed/configured. By changing the permissions to user groups, it would likely prevent Portal (WebSphere) from reading the files either.

You are correct, it does create additional difficulties. For Portal - WebSphere - to be able to access the print folder, the user who is specifically running the LSF services has to have specific access permissions for the print folder. And there can be other services that would have to have access. I'll admit it isn't a perfect solution, especially as it isn't done from "inside" of LSA. Hopefully Dan Mock's solution will work well. (I may have need of this capability at some time in the future.)
