REST VS SOAP Protocol

Hi,

Has anyone been able to use IPA to transmit information via a REST call? We see that in web service node we only have the SOAP protocols available. We agreed to implement a new application from a vendor that uses the REST protocol. We're trying to figure out if we'll be able to do that or if we will need to resort to flat file transfers.

Good morning John,



Technically speaking a REST call is not a protocol, it is simply a means of making application data available through HTTP. If you were making a SOAP call you would use the "Web Service Activity" node, if you are making a REST call you would use the "WebRun Activity Node".



Typically a REST call will respond in JSON, but could also output RSS or CSV so you would like use the Web Run to make your REST call then a JSON Parser to pull variables out of the response.
