I was wondering how everyone else processes credit memos on inventory items. Our current process is once we receive a credit memo from a vendor, we enter the vendor return in PO31 and that information is then sent to Finance who processes the CM with the VR# that we provide.
What do you do in the case when you aren't actually returning an item, but taking a credit because the vendor overcharged. We are currently getting ready to process over 2000 credits from a vendor because they were overcharging on a highly used product in our health system. That product is in inventory. When I try to do create the Vendor Return in PO31, I often get an error that there is insufficient SOH for this item. I understand why it says that, but we are not actually adjusting stock, just the price.
Any suggestions or alternative processes I can try?
