Best way to join from candidate table to employee table

Hi All - what is the best way to join from the candidate table to the employee table in LTM? We have one query that joins candidate to employee using the employee.CANDIDATENUMBER. But we have recently found we have some employee records with what appears to be unrelated candidate numbers in this field. It's also hit or miss on if it's populated. We have also used ORIGINATINGCANDIDATE, but have found some employees with this field empty. Any suggestions?

If I am looking at internal candidates(type 1) in the CANDIDATE table, I join using LINKEDEMPLOYEE. If looking also at externals, I go with EMPLOYEENUMBER, which is populated more often. There can be some mismatch, especially if you have had the same internal candidate creation issues we have via the Hire and Rehire processes.

Sure, for us the mismatch occurs with an error on the hire or rehire process. When our volume is high, the candidate number grabbed by the hire process for the internal candidate record is hijacked by an online applicant. The Landmark8000 node in the hire process then gives a duplicate candidate error, and the internal candidate is not created. We have an incident open with Infor regarding this, but haven't had any luck yet.

My best suggestion for the most accurate data is to look only at internals or type 1 candidate records(external candidates wouldn't have reliable employee numbers anyway), and join to the employee table there. From what I have seen, that appears to be accurate for the records that exist. Future hires and errored hires won't have candidates until the date arrives or the internal candidate is resolved.
