PR197/PR198 and GL Dates?

Greetings,

 

We ran a payroll on Monday 7/31 for pay period ending 7/29 with a pay date of 8/3. PR197 was run on 8/1 with a date GL date of 7/29 date. After the running the PR198 we noticed that the Employee portion of payroll was posted on 8/03 while the Employer portion was posted with a date of 7/29. Is this correct?

Is there any way to get them to post with the same date?

It's doing proper accounting. On the payroll ending date, the system records the salary expense and related employer portion for certain benefits. The employer expense and liability arise as of the close of the pay period. On the paid date, the liabilities to the employees are relieved, the cash is reduced for the net payroll amount, and the liabilities due to various vendors/agencies (based on withholdings) are recorded.
