I am hoping some of you may have some experience with GS1, HIBCC and ICCBBA Standards.
To meet the stage 3 requirements we must use technology certified to the 2015 edition. The criteria for 2015 include a common clinical data set used in health information exchange measure that has the ability to express the data which includes the unique device identifier for patients implantable device. There are three issuing agencies GS1, HIBCC and ICCBBA and all have a different standard. We have an interface from Lawson to Surginet for our item master files and now need to include this unique device identifier. In Lawson there are multiple fields but none are universal to accommodate the various standards.
GS1 - Data Delimiter (01) / Numeric data type / Readable barcode field size - 16 / Item database UPN field Size - 14
HIBCC - Data Delimiter + / Alphanumeric data type / Readable barcode field size - 7 to 24 / Item database UPN field Size - 6 to 23
ICCBBA - Data Delimiter =/ / Alphanumeric data type / Readable barcode field size - 18 / Item database UPN field Size - 16
The GS1 standards is not an issue since there is a table in Lawson to meet this requirement. The HIBCC is an issue for us because of the number of characters. There are now recent regulation with a timeline. I'm curious what other organizations are doing to stay compliant.
Thank you
