Multiple Catalog numbers for the same product

There are several vendors who are using different catalog numbers for the box versus the each of the product.

Example: Hologic 50-503xl is a box of 3 MyoSure XL but the product number on the product package is 50-501xl when you open the box.

We currently build the manufacturer number to 50-503xl but when the OR goes to charge for it in Epic they are looking for 50-501xl. We have added an Alias in Epic but I am wondering how others are handling this scenario.

We try to add the mfg information as the each p/n and the vendor item number in PO13 as the box p/n. Both fields are searchable in RQC and we send both fields into Epic. This way, no matter how the OR searches (by box or ea) they find the item in both Epic and Lawson. And we will always order the correct UOM from the vendor.

We use the UPC field as a secondary mfg field for these instances. We then have our GE interface first look at this field to see if it's populated, if so, it pulls that field as the mfg part #. If it's blank, it pulls the normal mfg part # field from the item master.

For the "simple" ones where the EA is 501xl and the BX is 503xl we put the 501xl in the manufacturer part number on IC11 and the 503xl on PO13.3. Both fields are sent to Optime (Epic OR) and keep the cost formula based on the purchase UOM.
