New .ear reployment perl script...

Hi all, Happy Friday! This is a sharing post. I discovered some functionality that a new environment patch is delivering. It's KB 1924770. Looks like it's 10.0.9, at this point. What do you HATE about doing environment updates?? Yup, redeploying .ear files! This patch delivers a script (deployEarUtil.pl) that does the redeployment. You just need to modify a config file in $LAWDIR/system for it. It's *awesome*!! I opened a ticket to get instructions for using it. They attached a pretty useful document (not perfect but works!). Thank you for pointing out this script! I reviewed the documentation, and wonder if the 'ALL' option for -pr (product) exists for the update task? (I'm thinking the default for an LCT patch.)

Yes, the ALl option works for the update task. In fact, that's what I used last week when I was setting it up and trying it. My next fun task is, since we have a separate server/applications for MS Addins, I'm going to create a new config file for those along with modifying the pl script (two pointers to the config file). That should make it so that I can update all apps, including the MS Addins ones, by running two scripts. Love it!

Finally getting around to applying the next LCT patch. Question about the WASMasterConfig.cfg variable "IOS_SERVICE_APP_NAME". I can't seem to locate this value in WAS console, nor install log.cfg. (Running on AIX)

Hi, It's the name of your actual ios application in WebSphere. For example, ours is lsfprod-ios. It's in WebSphereApplicationsApplication TypesEnterprise applications. Lenny
