EDI Files to GHX are not being received

We are in the process of moving our Lawson system from AIX to Linux. As part of this, I need to test connectivity between the new Linux server and GHX. So far, I've had no success. I have the ED330 running on the Linux server. GHX has created two new folders on their server that we are using for testing (as to not impact production). They have placed a test file in the outbound folder to Lawson. I've updated the ED02 screen (on Linux server) to contain the new folders for GHX. The ED00 form (on Linux server) has been updated to contain the new server name. I've run the ED502 and the job runs fine but then reports that there were 0 files received. GHX reports that they see I'm making the connection. The output from ED502 reports I'm making the connection and that it is looking in the new folder that GHX created - but it's not picking up the file (at least I don't see it in the Lawson EDI folder - LAWDIR/productline/edi/comm/in or in the $LAWDIR/productline/edi/archive/in). ED04 shows that the transaction was successful as well. Lawson is trying to figure out what is happening as is GHX - but so far, we haven't found anything. Has anyone else seen this issue? This is just a thought, as we do not do EDI specifically. We do the file transfer thing for other activities. May I suggest checking directory permissions? The permissions in UNIX (Linux is UNIX) are very strong, and often prevent file creation when one would think the file should be created. The key to understanding how the permissions are working is to know exactly what user account is accessing the directory. Check carefully to see what user account is dropping the test file in. You may be surprised at what you find. Good luck!

Thanks - I should have mentioned that we checked all the file permissions in both the Lawson and GHX systems. I am actually able to log in (as the user who runs the ED501 and ED502) jobs and enter the commands manually at the command prompt and am able to connect to the GHX server and place a file out there and pick up a file. It only isn't working via the ED501 and ED502 jobs. Great suggestion though!

Well, what I'm thinking, what has got me in trouble in the past, is that the programs may be running under another users account I don't expect, such as the user account that runs Lawson. Things would run fine under my own permissions, but not in that account. So it was trouble for me until I learned to check all of the possible accounts that could get involved. Please check for the account that runs Lawson also. Then there's the question of the user account used to set up the file transfer software, if you're using something like that, and the permissions for that account. And so on. Seems to me that it's just a permissions issue, so check everyone. And .... that's the end of what I can speculate on .... 'Nuff said.

Thanks - another good suggestion. However, there is only one user that runs these jobs (they are recurring jobs) and I'm logged in as that user when I attempt to run the job. You're right though - it definitely seems like some type of permissions issue. Another piece on information - both ED501 and ED502 complete successfully with no errors. However, the output from the ED501 job states "NO NEW DATA TO SEND" and the output from the ED502 job states that "Received 0 file(s) from NEOFTP". GHX reports that after a file is picked up their system automatically renames the file with ".bak" as an extension and this IS happening so GHX thinks that Lawson has successfully picked up the file ... Curiouser and Curiouser ...!

Do you have MA540 and MA531 built as recurring jobs also? The appended files that are sent from GHX are processed by these jobs.

Yes - MA540 is part of the recurring job for picking up/processing invoices. But we are not doing the MA540 step as part of this test. Nothing has changed other than we are going to be using a different server for Lawson (Linux vs. AIX). We are just trying to test connectivity - making sure we can successfully connect to the GHX server (from our new Linux server) and both pull in a file and place a file out there. The connection seems to be working - but it doesn't seem to actually pull in the file (or send the file).
