Is there any way to inactivate a department if the accounting unit it is mapped to on the GL side is marked as inactive?

Why not use IPA? Read HR02 one record at a time. Check status of accounting unit. If inactive, change department to inactive.

I do not have access to it, any other ideas?

Why not submit that request to your IT department? It should not take long to create the necessary flow.

Otherwise, I do not have a suggestion.

The only way we do it is, ask the finance dept to activate the cost centers for a brief time, then we deactivate the departments, let them know when its done and they deactivate the cost centers again.

We follow this same process.

Our process is similar... Finance emails us ahead of time when an accounting unit is going to be inactivated. Our Comp team reviews positions associated with the accounting unit to confirm no one is attached to them and then they inactivate the positions. HRIS inactivates the department and then replies to Finance's email letting them know our parts are done.

We address this by working with the finance team to first active the GL department, second inactivate in HR02 department, and then third have the finance team inactive the department again. Our going forward process is to work with the finance team and always inactive on the HR side first and then the GL side.
