Monitoring Closing Jobs

Does anyone have a recommendation on how they are currently monitoring the jobs that close out the different systems each day? With all the different jobs that will run automatically, we'd like a way to monitor them to make sure they completed successfully every day.

Ours are set up in recdef, and if they go into needs recovery we will receive notification (script runs to look for this). Aside from that, end users review activity and alert us if something isn't moving along as expected. Ex: job says post through 12/31/16 and we're now in 2017 so the job shows 'normal completion' but the data never posted. We've been able to avoid most of these parameter pitfalls, but have experienced (and learned from) them in the past.

what script do you use for notification that a job goes into needs recovery? I would very much like to be notified.

me too. That would save me from monitoring the job sched que for waiting jobs all day long and during off hours.

You don't indicate if you are windows or Unix but you can create either a bat file or script to run the jqstatus -r command and redirect that output to a file that can then be emailed to someone to address the "needs recovery" jobs. The "-r" only returns the jobs that are in that status. Our Unix script runs every 30 minutes during the day. My script has a timer built in but you can also set it up in Unix or Windows to run using the scheduling ability of those operating systems.
