Beneficiaries in ESS

I'm wondering how many of you allow the employees to change their beneficiaries in ESS? what are the pros and cons? going live on Monday and I keep tossing this question around in my head.

We have tabled as we need customizations to the delivered options (10.0.5). Only Pro for us is elimination of a single page paper form, whereas cons are: Can't define within Benefit Type by Plan Code. Have benefits that do not have a plan set-up yet need a beneficiary. Enrollment for benefits that don't begin in the system until 1 year of service. No forced enrollment or prompts at New Hire/OE. Rudimentary report would need to be enhanced for auditing. Allows for election of less than 100% and for flat $$ amounts (that we do not allow currently).

We are not going to allow it because we don't interface beneficiary information with our 401k provider, so if an employee changed the DC beneficiary in ESS, the employee would also need to designate that same beneficiary directly into their online retirement account.

We also aren't going to allow enrollment in voluntary life online either because of EOI requirements, and not very many people sign up for additional coverage anyway so we can walk them through it in person. They designate beneficiaries for company paid life at orientation.
