Program naming conventions for Infor Lawson 10 custom programs

We are upgrading from 9.0 to 10.0 and are having an issue with existing custom programs that begin with a numeric. They compile fine without error but when a user tries to add a job in portal they get an error that says Missing required parameter _PDL. If I rename the program with an alpha it works fine. The user insist that it worked before with a numeric and does not want the name changed. Example program 527IC gets the error if I copy it to AA527 it works fine. Any ideas why?

More details would help. Infor product name? (I think it is Lawson, but not sure) Exact version you are on including patches? If this is Lawson have you tried running the program in LID instead of Portal? If so, does the same error happen? If it is Lawson it is standard for all programs to begin with two alphas.

This is a custom Lawson program for the IC system. Version is 10.0 MSP#7. I am able to add a jobdef in Lid but not portal. It is my understanding (I have been developing custom Lawson programs for 17 years) that Lawson programs should start with two alphas. I did not write the custom program in question. I'm 99% sure you can not have a Lawson program start with a numeric and expect it to work in portal.

I believe I have proven this by copying the 527IC program to ICX27. ICX27 works in both Lid and portal. Then I copied the ICX27 to 277IC and 277IC works in Lid but not in portal. It receives the same "Missing required parameter _PDL" error. We had this issue with an online program named 02PR for this same customer I renamed to PRX2 and it worked. They did not like my resolution and still claim I am wrong when I say you can not name a Lawson program beginning with a numeric. I was hoping someone can verify that this is true before I go back to them with the same resolution.

I'm think the requirement may actually be on the XML program and that's why it works in lid but not in portal.

I agree with you Martin. I have read in the Lawson documentation for developers that all programs must begin with two letters.
