ESS Open Enrollment

We are in the middle of open enrollment and all our records are pending and loading to BS31, but I'm wondering if there are any reports I can run ahead of time to take a look at some of the changes that are being processed. We want to start keying the information but I don't want to run the full process yet.

BS531 and BN531.

You can run the BS531 as often as you would like but just make sure to set the delete parameter to "N" so you don't delete the pending transactions. This will allow you to see what kind of changes are being made. Do you not run the whole process at the end of your open enrollment? Questioning why you would hand key the data. If you run the BS531 with delete N you will have a problem later to separate out what you have hand-Keyed and what changes still need to be loaded. Also if you hand key some of the data what if the employee goes back in and makes changes? You will have to audit what you have entered verses what is on BS31 when open enrollment if over.

Hi Karen - We won't be doing the keying in Lawson we just have to key to our outside vendors since we don't have a feed, I wish we did that would make life so much easier. thanks for your information.

Linda, you may want to look into bringing it in-house. We let go of our vendor last year and brought it in-house with our Infor products. I've had some changes to input but so far it has been much easier. You're doing twice the work.

I use Microsoft Office Add-ins to query the BNBEN table, and I include a few more items like employee name , number and department so that I can update managers to get their assistance with helping employees complete the process.

Back in the day when we did our benefits in Lawson, we pended them, copied them over to a test product line, made changes there, and then moved the data from the test product line to PROD. All the data moves were via BS531, so there was absolutely no double keying (and we were able to keep the audit history of who made changes in the test product line).
