Configuration Console

I'd love to find a group within this community for support with advanced configuration console modifications. Right this minute, we have a need for validation rules on actions and the data provided, which we THINK is accomplished with action exit rules. Has anyone successfully written and used an exit rule?

I have only used Exit Rules once. The example is for GHR - Leave of Absence.

When a user Approves the Leave of Absence, the user enters the new RelationshipStatus of the employee on the LeaveOfAbsence form. We want the RelationshipStatus field to automatically be updated. The issue is that the RelationshipStatus is on a different business class...it is on the Employee business class instead of the LeaveOfAbsence business class. Therefore, we wrote an exit rule to force the field to be updated in the Employee business class.

Here is the syntax of the Exit Rule:

On the LeaveOfAbsence Business Class, Action is Approve, Exit Rule is:

invoke Update Employee

invoked.RelationshipStatus = RelationshipStatus

Exit Rules will fire after the action's rules have all succeeded and committed. I'm not sure if you need Exit Rules in your case or not. Entrance Rules would fire before. Using Form configuration you can add validation using constraints at the field level. You can layer in Conditions, using DerivedFields to do all sorts of complicated stuff.

I 'd be very interesting to see some of your example validation constraints. I've been able to achieve some things using conditions, relations, and constraints, but there are some items which seem impossible. One example, I want certain fields to be visible and required based on the action reason selected. I haven't been able to find ANY way to harness that selection for conditions on the form. We are partially working around it with user fields, but...
