First Payroll of the year and GL Timing?

Greetings all,

Our last pay period of 2017 ends Saturday 12/30. We will process payroll on 1/1/18 and 1/2/18 with an actual payday of 1/4/18.

What GL date will the salary exspense have when it hits the GL? I assume 1/4/18. IF that is correct can we run the payroll accrual (PR195) with a GL date for the full pay period plus one day with a GL date of 12/31/17?

When you run your PR197 to close the payroll, you can specify the General Ledger date. In this case, I would think you'd want to have the expense hit your GL with a date of 12/30/17.
