Print Files Routing to Wrong Print Directories

Hi,

We have run into an issue with a series of recurring multi-step jobs where the print files for each job are being sent to the same print file. For example, we have jobname INVOICEMON, INVOICETUE, INVOICEWED, INVOICETHU and INVOICEFRI. Each job runs on it's specified day (INVOICEMON on Monday, INVOICETUE on Tuesday etc) For some reason, the print files for the INVOICETHU job are showing up in the INVOICEMON print directory. Has anyone run into an issue like this before. This is the second time we have run into this. The first time, we just rebuilt the jobs and re-scheduled them and it fixed the issue (temporarily as it seems). These jobs aren't hard to build, but they are tedious so hoping to find some insight as to what might be causing this issue.

The specific batch job files we have found this issue with is for MA540.

Is it possible that someone did a job copy which copied the report distribution parameters? I know if you are maintaining via Ming.le/Portal, you sometimes have to be careful with the "Reports" button, which includes the File Path and File Name. We have a similar setup (MON, TUE, WED, etc.) for our MA540 jobs and I don't believe we've ever run into this issue on v901 nor on v10 - we upgraded in April. We maintain these jobs in recdef and our users don't update the jobs in MA540 via Ming.le/Portal.

That is pretty much what we do. We have our users tell us what they're parameters are, then IT builds the jobs and maintains them. We built the jobs under a service account, so our end users aren't even able to access the jobs via Ming.le/portal.

We (IT), utilize LID to maintain those jobs. What's frustrating is they have worked for about 2 months now and then all of a sudden they quit working last week. I know we created a new distribution group for a different project but I'm not sure they would have anything to do with how the print files are sent to the wrong directory for the submitting user (which is our service account).

Your explanation makes sense, but that fact that the jobs are going to the wrong directory doesn't make sense. Huh.

I just looked in Portal, and I can go to Jobs and Reports/Multi-Step Job Definition, enter the job name and the service account user name and inquire on the job that we set up via recdef/LID. Is it possible that someone is looking (looked?) there and made an update that inadvertently updated the File Path? I can't imagine the system just changing where it puts the file automagically (in this case autotragically?)

I would be hard pressed to think that it wasn't possible so that's definitely something we can look at. We have a very limited user base that can access the multi-step job definition via portal, but as you pointed out, it's still possible. It could have even been another administrator.

Thanks for the fresh ideas, I will look into that scenario.

Can you tell, is there a way to view the file path for a specific job? Particularly for MA540?
