Managers Access To TM Manager Suite

We are going live with Infor in May of this year and we are trying to decide whats the best practice for the managers to access Rich Client? i.e. Downloading it on each computer or accessing it through an application server (Citrix)

Why would you want the managers to use Rich Client rather than access through the web? Do you really want to install and maintain java on all the managers computers?

I highly discourage Rich Client installs for all of you managers. We have Rich Client deployed for our HR staff and every java update that is automatically pushed to pc's breaks the shortcut and has to be fixed everytime.

Often there are issues with the applet as well.

We are starting to explore the html for all of HR (with exception of Admins/Security)

I can't remember which manual this is in but you could work with your consultants or open a ticket for guidance.

Also know that my understanding is Infor is encouraging the use of html (not applet) for all users with exception of admins who would still need Rich Client.

On another note, when we went live, we spent hours trying to get Rich Client to work via citrix to no avail.

My experience with rich client echoes jreese and Annette's. I wanted to add that my previous employer's policy for applications like rich client was to deliver them via citrix, so my Lawson server admin wasted hours upon hours over the course of a month trying to do this and could not get it working. He eventually received a "pardon" to deploy rich client to the desk tops, which created all the issues described by jreese and Annette. I am sure this is why Lawson is steering customers towards the web - they know what a poor user tool it is and how much work it is to maintain.

Annette, I do not know what version you are currently running, but as of either Landmark 10.1 or 11, the only thing you actually need Rich Client for is Configuration Console. Everything else can be done through the web and Infor is currently working on allowing Configuration Console through the web. We have no one outside of IT that has Rich Client installed.

Thanks JReese. We are just starting to test everything.. literally this week.. Too many things going on and it keeps getting pushed on priority list. I think I read in Landmark 11 where config cons could be done via html now too... but we are still on Landmark 10.2... have to get servers upgraded from OS 2k8 to 2k12 before we can update Landmark.

We are on the latest release, and Config Console is still not available through the web. I just came back from our User Conference where I was told it was still in development. One request I made was could they design the web client so that you could switch product lines as easily as you can in Rich Client versus having to have multiple browser sessions open.
